About River to Lake Guide Service

River to Lake Guide Service provides a wide variety of guided fly fishing and conventional trips for trout and smallmouth bass year round in the Asheville area and surrounding counties throughout Western North Carolina ( Buncombe,Madison,Yancey, McDowell, Mitchell, Henderson). We welcome anglers of all ages and skill levels to join us on a fishing adventure that we will strive to build lifetime memories on. Whether you want to spend a day isolated deep in our beautiful mountains  learning to drift a dry fly on a small stream for wild trout or if you'd rather get out with conventional gear and chase big smallmouth bass in the deep clear waters of Lake James, River to Lake Guide Service has you covered. As much as we love fishing, customer satisfaction and safety remains our top priority. For that reason we require all guides to be insured and licensed on all of our offered packages. Mychal Hamby

Mychal Hamby is a native of of Western North Carolina, growing up in the Asheville area. Having a father who was very passionate about fishing, the love of the hobby was passed along at early age to Mychal. Guiding professionally came as an opportunity through buddies in the area who welcomed him to guide for their successful guide services. It was through those experiences that Mychal realized his passion for sharing  information  and teaching other anglers in their fishing journey. Along with with nearly 30 years of fishing experience in the waters of North Carolina, Mychal always brings a smile and positive attitude out with fellow anglers whether the fish bite or not. Of course he brings some good fish stories along as well. Outside of being on the water, Mychal is a huge baseball fan and enjoys spending time with his wife Emery and their dogs.
